We need a bigger house & cannot afford it in Kent...we also wanted a better quality of life etc for our young children & wanted to get away from the CHAV's which live around Kent (yes I know u get them everywhere...but more so here :-( ) some of the people who take their children to my sons school would make your hair curl with their fowl mouths & chavvy accents...& I really dont want my children to grow up with that.So... we thought .. SUFFOLK. (cant be too far from Kent tho as hubby needs to travel by car once a week). It's an old neighbourhood with quiet streets and none of the suburban BS of the Valley. Sudbury has lovely, more affordable property in the old centre – great pre-18th century buildings in Cross Street, Stour Street and Gainsborough Street. Would definitely say that Needham Market was better than Stowmarket (we used to live there!). Find a place within walking or biking distance to your work. Living in Sudbury offers residents a rural feel and most residents own their homes. You cannot walk in the street without somewhere hearing an ignorant voice shouting “GRUNGER!!!”. Stowmarket has all the amenities you would need (library, banks, doctors, bakers etc) but doesn't have that great a reputation.

Since Sudbury has a higher level of residents born in the UK than the national average and a lower rate of residents either born in other EU countries or outside the EU, it does not have a significant immigrant population. To them anyone who stands out from the crowd is “weird”, anyone who doesn’t sit back and let things happen and that actually cares about something, even if its music (though only music they don’t like) is a “geek” anyone who wears something without a label, has any black on it or is wearing baggy jeans and a hoody is a “Grunger”.

Hang out at… There are some nice, low-key pubs in Sudbury, but it's Long Melford for posh, at the lovely Scutchers and the great pub-with-rooms-and-food, the Black Lion. Residents of Sudbury tend to be liberal. Sudbury and its neighbour Long Melford are two peas in a pod. We also have not just the young teenage townies who are relativly harmless, though annoying, but we have the idiots who scream around town in their cars in circles all day. Our lifestyles and music should be heard more often on radio, we need more (if there are really any anyway) rock, punk, grunge, metal and alternative rock/music radio in this country.
